Kids Aikido

Ages 5 - 9

How Does Aikido Help Your Kids?

Our Kids Aikido program teaches children how to more effectively observe, listen and learn. Children soon discover that thru patience and attention to detail, they can have an increasing sense of accomplishment.  Thru age-appropriate lessons and proper instruction, kids build character, self-respect and improved social skills.

Life and Leadership Skills

We aim for you to grasp both the ‘why and how’ in your training. Understanding the ‘why’ behind a technique develops a more instinctive reflex and becomes a natural part of you, instead of just memorizing it. We are dedicated to guiding and supporting you every step of the way, resulting in profound changes that will enrich every facet of your life.

We help your child feel like a hero, where they can achieve anything they set their minds and efforts to. They will learn to strive, stand tall and be confident amongst their peers, making them into better friends, stronger students and more effective little leaders.

Better Grades and Study Habits

Beyond the physical space, Aikido of Scottsdale embraces a set of core values that transcends mere training. We’re not just a dojo; we’re a family of members who together support and encourage each other on our individual paths of training.

Your children will become more confident in themselves, developing self-discipline and the focus and concentration needed to excel in school and at home.  We make success a habit, not a chore!

Increased Focus & Attention

Together, we celebrate achievements, overcome challenges, and inspire each other to reach new heights. We have fun training together and form lasting connections and friendships that extend beyond the training.

The key to all martial arts training is respect, both on and off the mat.  Our instructors create a positive environment where kids are excited to learn and having fun doing it.  Kids naturally gain better focus, listening skills, cooperation and respect for others.

Bully - Proof

Together, we celebrate achievements, overcome challenges, and inspire each other to reach new heights. We have fun training together and form lasting connections and friendships that extend beyond the training.

Your child will acquire anti-bullying and stranger awareness skills to stay safe and protected from verbal or physical threat. Kids learn how to be more aware of their surroundings and recognize an unsafe situation before it arises. Skills and strategies are then taught of how to manage...

and diffuse these situations first. However, if and when necessary, they will have learned the skills and techniques to protect and defend themselves.

I love the classes and life lessons here. My 5 and 7 year olds are in the youth classes. The core philosophy behind Aikido as I understand it is to blend energy and use the momentum that is given to you. We talk a lot in our home about how these concepts relate to so many parts of daily life. The instructors for the kids class are amazing. They are kind, fun and outgoing. All while they work on teaching the physical movements, respect, confidence and self defense. The kids are waiting at the car to go on Aikido days!

My son is nine and after trying a few different martial art styles and studios he decided to go with Aikido of Scottsdale. The studio is in a great location and very clean. The sensei are very good at explaining what to do and how these techniques could and would be applied in real life. They are all very proactive in walking around making corrections and helping the students out individually. They also have older students with higher belts helping out in class. It is great to see a studio that is taking the time to teach students the meaning of discipline, purpose, and control in a positive environment.

This dojo is everything that you want for your kids. A kind but firm staff of sempai who genuinely want them to succeed as human beings first and aikido students as a very close second. I am constantly impressed that every child I witness is given challenges just within reach so that they can feel a real sense of accomplishment for succeeding. Nothing is handed to them nor made unattainable.

My children have been in the youth class for almost a year. It has been satisfying to see their skills and confidence grow. Aikido is a great way for them to move their bodies and learn self-defense with big smiles on their faces. One of the things I appreciate most about Aikido of Scottsdale is how the older students and adults will assist in the youth classes. This mentorship encourages young students to continue in their training and promotes a family atmosphere. Senpais Stu and Tal do a great job with the little kids.

Scottsdale Aikido and their instructors are always supportive and help build their students’ knowledge at their own pace. My son has been going for 2 years now and has made great progress in a lot of areas in the dojo and outside as well from the focus he’s gained on the mat. Highly recommended for any age to start.
